It’s our song, honey. You know the one we built our relationship on, EHarmony.com. So,… so, melodious.
You know how this works, a friend sends me something, I play around and poof something else. Well here is that something else. the CodeOrgan. Say What?
Yes, the CodeOrgan analyses the “Body” content of your web page and translates that content into music. For those of you who want to know more, this is copied directly from the about page on CodeOrgan.com.
THE CODEORGAN ANALYSES THE *BODY* CONTENT OF ANY WEB PAGE AND TRANSLATES THAT CONTENT INTO MUSIC. THE CODEORGAN USES A COMPLEX ALGORITHM TO DEFINE THE KEY, SYNTH STYLE AND DRUM PATTERN MOST APPROPRIATE TO THE PAGE CONTENT.FIRSTLY, THE CODEORGAN SCANS THE PAGE CONTENTS AND REMOVES ALLCHARACTERS NOT FOUND IN THE MUSICAL SCALE (A TO G), AND THEN ANALYSES THE REMAINING CHARACTERS TO FIND THE MOST COMMONLY USED ‘NOTE’. IF THIS IS AN EVEN NUMBER THE PAGE IS TRANSLATED IN TO THE MAJOR PENTATONIC SCALE OF THAT PARTICULAR NOTE, IT BECOMES MINOR IF THERE IS AN UNEVEN NUMBER.SECONDLY, THE CODEORGAN DEFINES WHICH SYNTHESIZER TO USE. THIS ISBASED UPON THE TOTAL NUMBER CHARACTERS USED ON THE WEBPAGE – THERE ARE CURRENTLY 10 SYNTHESIZER EFFECTS AND THE ONE CHOSEN IS PICKED BASED UPON THE PERCENTAGE OF CONTENT.LASTLY, THE CODEORGAN SELECTS A DRUM LOOP BASED UPON THE RATIO OF CHARACTERS ON THE PAGE VERSUS THE NUMBER OF CHARACTERS THAT ARE ACTUALLY MUSICAL NOTES – THERE ARE CURRENTLY 10 DIFFERENT DRUM LOOPS TO PICK FROM.GO AND MAKE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC TOGETHER.THE CODEORGAN PEOPLE
I went through a bunch of websites that I will name off below (and you can listen to them in the video). Some were cool, some were odd, and some (slickdeals.net) I just had to stop because it was way too long. Good thing is that you can go to CodeOrgan.com and try it yourself.
Here are the sites I tried (in order).
I’d say my favorite is probably the GigMaven About Page.

Aviary Myna Review-ish
Thursday, May 20th, 2010The design looks good and the concept is great. You have access to tons of loops, sounds, music, etc. and Aviary Myna allows you to share your music very easily. If you upload a file you can choose the licensing type you prefer, tag the sound file so others may find it (if you want them to), add a description, tempo, and more. When you save your project and create a ‘mixdown’ you can easily copy the code to embed in your social site, blog, web page, or any other places that you can paste the code into; including downloading to your computer. You can even share your session so others can edit it.
I said I was going to have a YouTube clip, but it wasn’t really that interesting. Instead I used Myna’s mixdown code and dropped the tune in the post.
So you’re wondering why I wasn’t so… “excited” . I may be crazy, but I wasn’t able to select multiple wavs and drag them around. They had to be done one by one. For me, if I’m working with a bunch of loops it’s be nice to be able to move multiple wavs. Not only that, but if I cut my recording apart, maybe there was an odd sound in the background, I’d have to, again, move each file individually. There are ways around it, but I just wanted some simple, fast, and fun. I was going to attempt to record some stuff, but I didn’t find enough excitement to do any more with the software.
Overall, though, and I want to come across in a positive fashion, I like the app and I think it’s useful. I’m hoping Aviary can provide me a decent lashing, maybe I’m just doing everything wrong. Really when it comes down to it, I didn’t spend that much time with the software. You should try it out yourself and leave a comment with some feedback as well.
I call this creation, “Too much ice cream”, and was inspired by a vision of eating way too much sugar then losing control of certain concentration… as you will probably notice.
